A garage door project can come along with a lot of safety concerns. Each garage door company has their own safety statement. These safety labels need to be taken seriously in order to prevent any injuries. There are a handful of deaths that are reported on a yearly basis. The cause of these deaths are due to improper use and or handling of a garage door. Here is a list of safety measures that was put together by our company.
Anytime that there has been damage to your garage door, it will be in your best interest to have it professionally inspected. Sometimes there may not appear to be physical damage to your garage door, however there could be some kind of internal damage that may cause an injury. If there is any type of misalignment in the track of the garage door, the next time that you try to open and or close your garage door it could come of the track and fall on top of whatever is below it.
Sometimes we are in a hurry to get home or leave home to get to work. A garage door seems to take a light year when these times approach us. This does not give you an excuse to try and run under the closing garage door in order to get outside quick so that you do not have to wait for it to completely close and then open back up again. The same thing goes for when you are trying to run back into your home to grab something quick that you forgot for work. It is always advised that you never try to do this!
Do not play with the doors
Both children and adults should refrain from putting their fingers in the track of the garage door. Even when your garage door is not in operation, you may never know when there will be a glitch and the garage door opens and or closes on its own. If your fingers happen to be in the garage doors track at the time of the glitch, you could possibly lose your fingers or your child’s fingers. Either way, the point is that you should never be playing with the track of a garage door.
Maintenance is a must
Have you ever heard of garage door maintenance? Most people would say that once their garage door is installed they will not need to put any money into until it completely breaks and a garage door replacement is required. This is incorrect, as with many things that run with a motor, regular maintenance will be required. Even if you choose to only have your garage door serviced once a year, you will be in good hands. This maintenance will just reassure you that everything is running properly and there does not appear to be any glitches that need to be replaced before an injury occurs.
You do not want to be part of those numbers, therefore it will be a good idea to contact your local garage door service company to help you with any garage door problems or garage door repairs.
